What’s your beer drinking strategy? Six pack for one evening? Twelve for the weekend? Forties of malt liquor?
Any pro tips? Is Bev-Mo the best place to get beer?

All of it now.
But a 6-pack of something good is a good baseline for a night.

Sixxer for the night...if I keep more than that in the house I tend to drink all of it in one go.

Twelve for the weekend??
BWAHAHAHAHA!
I’ll knock out twelve between lunch and dinner on a busy Saturday.
They invented the 30 pack for me!

Keep going until fingers and lips get numb, then get some fresh air and a cigarette, eat something, drink a bottle of water, and start over again.

So quantity is your strategy. Gotcha!

I’d use my mouth, but do whatever makes you happy.

Only if they had an eight pack of beer. Seriously.

As many as I want.

A good compromise is a 6 pack of tallboys. It’s basically an 8 pack, but you can tell people you only drank six!
I don't think I have a problem.

Usually a nice six or two for the weekend but I won’t finish it all.

There needs to be an eight-pack.

Drink a growler to yourself

A six of something delicious and heavy, or a 12 of watery piss-lager is good for a night of drinking, or 2-3 nights of polite company.
I wish we had Bev-Mo here. I visited one when I was on vacation in San Diego last year and it was awesome. I do have a good local liquor store with a decent selection, but compared to BevMo it’s like a gas station vs. a grocery store in terms of selection.

*that isn’t an American macrobrew

What brands sell a six pack of tall boys? You actually got me thinking about this a little more, lol.

All of it.

You can 12 of these for about 7 bucks. It tastes a bit better than Bud Light, MGDs, etc.
You can find it at Trader Joe’s.

Don’t drink aggressively hopped beers first, it’ll wreck your palate for anything else. If it’s a session or your drinking all day, drink a couple of quality beers up front, then switch to cheaper stuff once you don’t care about the flavor as much. Also avoid anything over 5% in that case, because you’ll get shitfaced.
I don’t drink during the week (defined as Monday through Friday afternoon), but usually have 3-4 good IPAs or other good stuff on the nights I do. I like to try new beers too, so I try to seek out things I haven’t tried or that I haven’t had in awhile. I’m a beer snob nut, but if I’m doing yardwork all day or out mountain biking or doing trailwork, it’s Banquet Beer time.
BevMo can be counted on to have a good selection, but you may find a hole-in-the-wall liquor store whose owner knows what’s up and stocks some more special stuff, worth looking around for.

Trader Joe’s is the best. I don’t have one close to my house, but my doctor’s office is right above one. Whenever I have an appointment, I stock up on cheap beer, wine, and cheese.

See, every time I start to build a collection, I just drink it all.

I have a few beers that are 4-5 years old, most are in the 1-3 year range, except IPAs, pale ales, etc, those get consumed pdq. I'm not a very effective drinker.

Quantity... Bingeing... It goes by many names.

BTW, that's 4 years on untappd... Which is a bit crazy (I'm a big fan of ordering flights, and ordering weird things I've never tried before).

Any thoughts on Lagunitas: Undercover Investigation? It’s my go to beer right now.

Simply line a nominal amount of cans up and keep drinking till either all the cans are laying on their backs or I am. When I was younger I always won but as I get older I find they are winning more and more and they aren’t gracious winners either as they taunt me as I fall into a drink addled unconscious sleep in front of them.

It’s a nice big beer, it’s improved a bit in recent years. They’ve balanced it a tad over the years (it was a bit sweeter/maltier than it is now). I'm a fan. But I wouldn't personally drink more than one at a time, but I get why someone would love it.

Coors and Bud both do if you want fizzy yellow beer. Narragansett works almost exclusively in tall boys, and makes a better than average beer.
![]() 03/25/2016 at 19:50 |

The mega-brewers all do. Think Bud, Miller, Coors, etc.
![]() 03/25/2016 at 19:50 |

Big beer? You’re using vernacular I am not familiar with. High ABV?

I like the water stashed in the drawer.

ABV and flavor mostly. It's not meek in either regard.

I’m a beer snob in that I like craft beers. It just tastes better, to me.

I’m with you there. I haven’t seen too many craft tallboys out there. I think Bell’s sells their Two Hearted IPA in tallboys, but that’s all I can think of at the moment.

Same here.

Depends on the beer and my mood, I don’t have any real manner of going about it. I can definitely plow through a lot of it on Sundays during football season, for sure. It doesn’t help that a couple of my favorites are seasonal and appear right at that time too (Great Divide Hoss and Double Bastard).

Those are good.

I’m not going to lie, I like strong beers.

I usually have a decent selection of 22s then one, maybe two kinds in a six pack. I’ll start with 22 and then kinda go from there, (2nd 22? just one more 12?) This way I can have a nice selection and be able to vary the amount. I have been a fairly high abv guy - but there are some nice “session” style beers that are good too and you can have have three or four and still function. We have a big Total Wine and More out here and they have a really nice selection of 22s at good prices, plus one whole short isle of seasonal too - it’s like walking into a candy store for me...

All the hops... But beer is inefficient for getting drunk.

Actually, given that I’ve had those beers spread over that 4 year period about as evenly as possible, I’m probably in pretty decent shape liver wise, and that I’d say possibly fully half of them have been in 3-6 oz portions, rather than full, I feel even more comfortable with that. =)
The reason my beer fridge looks like that is because I don't actually drink enough.
